According to a report by The Information, OpenAI executives are currently discussing the creation of the company's first proprietary data center. This facility is intended to store hardware and software data valued at billions of dollars. It is reported that OpenAI requires up to 5 exabytes (EB) of storage space.

This initiative would not only enable OpenAI to reduce its reliance on its current cloud service provider, Microsoft (MSFT), but also significantly lower its operational costs. By having its own data center, OpenAI aims to enhance efficiency and scalability in managing vast amounts of data.
