Heathrow Airport in London has been forced to close due to a significant power outage caused by a fire at a substation supplying electricity to the airport. As a result, the airport will remain closed until March 21 at 23:59, according to a statement on its website.
The closure has led to disruptions in flight schedules, particularly affecting United Airlines (UAL, Financial). The airline announced that seven of its flights were either returned to their point of origin or redirected to other airports. Additionally, all flights scheduled to depart for Heathrow on Friday have been canceled.
