Meta Platforms (META, Financial) stock dropped 3.58% to $583.24 on Tuesday as of 3:30 PM ET, even as the company celebrated a major AI milestone—1 billion downloads of its Llama AI models.

In a blog post, Meta highlighted Llama's impact across industries, from startups and universities to major tech firms and researchers. The company credited its open-source approach, calling Llama transparent, customizable, and secure, making it a popular choice for innovation.

Meta's latest model, Llama 3.3, launched in December, and Llama 4 is already in the works. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the new version is being trained on over 100,000 Nvidia (NVDA, Financial) H100 GPUs, making it one of the largest AI projects to date.

Despite the AI momentum, investors weren't convinced, sending Meta's stock lower in Tuesday's session.
