Adobe has announced the launch of its Photoshop application on mobile devices, offering both a free version and an advanced paid version at a subscription cost of $7.99 per month. This marks the first time Photoshop, a leader in digital image editing since 1990, is entering the mobile market.

The new mobile strategy comes in response to Adobe's acknowledgment of competitors Apple (AAPL) and Google (GOOGL), whose mobile operating systems already provide several photo editing features for free. By targeting young users who rely on mobile devices for photography and editing, Adobe aims to bolster its market presence among smartphone-oriented creators.

The paid version offers enhanced features, more cloud storage, and allows users to edit on larger screens using the web version of Photoshop, promising an improved user experience. Even the free version includes basic editing tools like photo layering, area masking, and text addition, suitable for creating various cover designs for podcasts, playlists, or YouTube videos.

Despite Adobe's creative software accounting for over half of its sales, the company's revenue forecast for 2025 fell short of Wall Street expectations last December. However, the mobile-focused initiative underscores Adobe's adaptation to shifting consumer preferences, aiming to capture a larger share of the mobile-savvy audience.
