Google has quietly announced the pricing for its upcoming video generation AI model, Veo 2, set to be released in December 2024. According to the company's pricing page, using Veo 2 will cost 50 cents per second of video, equating to $30 per minute or $1,800 per hour.
Jon Barron, a researcher at Google's DeepMind, compared this pricing to the production budget of the Marvel blockbuster "Avengers: Endgame," which was reportedly $356 million, or approximately $32,000 per second. However, it's unlikely that customers will use every second of video generated by Veo 2, nor is it expected to produce three-hour epics like "Avengers" anytime soon. Google's statement highlights Veo 2's capability to create clips lasting two minutes or longer.
Previously, OpenAI made headlines by granting access to its Sora video generation model for subscribers of ChatGPT Pro, who pay $200 monthly.
