Apple (AAPL, Financial) is partnering with Baidu (BIDU) to develop artificial intelligence (AI) features for iPhone users in China. Baidu is currently working on an AI-powered search engine capable of handling images and text, and also upgrading the voice assistant Siri for the Chinese market.

This collaboration aligns with China's regulatory requirement that mandates foreign companies to work with local firms in developing consumer AI applications. Additionally, Alibaba's (BABA) Chairman, Joe Tsai, has acknowledged a partnership with Apple, indicating Apple's non-exclusive approach to AI development in China.

On the recent trading day, Baidu's American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) rose by 3.5%, closing at $96.59.
