American Airlines Stock (AAL) Falls After Plane Collision Incident

American Airlines (AAL, Financial) shares dropped 3.5% in pre-market trading following a plane collision incident. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration reported that a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet collided mid-air with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter while approaching runway 33. The incident occurred around 9 PM local time. Flight 5342, operated by PSA Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group, had departed from Wichita, Kansas.

The PSA Airlines aircraft involved is a Mitsubishi CRJ-700 jet, typically used for short-haul flights and can accommodate up to 65 passengers. In response to the accident, Ronald Reagan Airport temporarily suspended all takeoffs and landings, according to a post on social media platform X.
