Microsoft's (MSFT, Financial) LinkedIn is facing a lawsuit alleging unauthorized disclosure of private user information to third parties for AI model training. A proposed class-action suit, representing millions of LinkedIn Premium users, claims that LinkedIn introduced a privacy setting in August allowing users to control the sharing of their personal data. This was followed by an update to its privacy policy in September, stating that user data might be used for AI training. A FAQ link indicated that opting out would not halt already ongoing training processes.
The lawsuit argues that LinkedIn was fully aware of the privacy invasion and had pledged to use personal data solely to enhance and support its platform. This move seems to aim at minimizing public scrutiny and legal repercussions.
