NVIDIA's (NVDA, Financial) CEO Jensen Huang recently visited Beijing, marking a significant event for the AI chip leader. During a New Year celebration hosted by NVIDIA, Huang emphasized the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI) in today's world. He noted that while general-purpose computers have been around for over 60 years, AI has brought about substantial changes, integrating deeply into various aspects of life.
Huang highlighted AI's pervasive influence, stating that it has become a part of everyday life, affecting sectors such as education, healthcare, retail, transportation, and agriculture. He shared that he personally interacts with AI daily, using it as a learning tool.
Discussing NVIDIA's (NVDA, Financial) presence in China, Huang mentioned the company's 25-year history in the country, with its GeForce graphics cards playing a crucial role in establishing its early foothold. NVIDIA employs nearly 4,000 people in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, with an impressive growth rate of almost 60% over recent years. The company boasts a remarkably low employee turnover rate in China, at just 0.9% annually, compared to a global rate of 2%.
Huang also touched on the complexity of NVIDIA's CUDA programming platform, highlighting that despite its challenges, there are 1.5 million Chinese developers using it. NVIDIA is actively collaborating with nearly 3,000 Chinese startups.
