Nvidia (NVDA, Financial) has rapidly risen to become the world's second most valuable company, briefly surpassing Apple. Recent data reveals that 78% of Nvidia employees are now millionaires, thanks to the company's skyrocketing stock price, which has surged an astounding 3,776% since 2019. This growth has significantly increased the company's market value and created unprecedented wealth for its employees. According to LinkedIn user Ruben D., nearly 80% of Nvidia's workforce now holds assets exceeding one million dollars, with half of them having a net worth of $25 million.
However, this financial success comes with a high-pressure work environment. Nvidia employees report working seven days a week, often staying up until 2 AM, with frequent meetings and strict time management. This intense work culture has been described as wearing "golden handcuffs," leaving employees with little time for family and prompting some to consider a "semi-retirement" to mitigate work-related stress.
In response to concerns about the demanding work culture, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang addressed the issue in a recent company-wide meeting. He emphasized that working at Nvidia is like a "voluntary sport," where employees should manage their time as if they were CEOs. Despite these challenges, Nvidia was ranked second in Glassdoor's "Best Places to Work" for 2024.
