Tesla (TSLA, Financial) has announced its 2024 global production and delivery report, showcasing robust figures. The company produced approximately 1.773 million electric vehicles globally and delivered around 1.789 million, marking a slight year-over-year decrease of 1.07%. The annual installed capacity of its energy storage products reached 31.4 GWh. Tesla also significantly expanded its Supercharger network, adding over 11,500 chargers worldwide, a 19% increase, bringing the total to more than 67,000. Expansion plans are underway to enhance this network further.
In China, Tesla achieved record-breaking sales. According to the Passenger Car Association, Tesla's December sales in China reached 83,000 units, a 12.8% monthly increase, with annual sales growing by 8.8% to over 657,000 units. The Shanghai Gigafactory rolled out its 3 millionth vehicle last October, with one-third of its production exported to Asia-Pacific and European markets. Notably, this factory contributes 40% of Tesla's global capacity.
Tesla is advancing in other sectors, including humanoid robots and energy storage. The company plans to start limited production of its humanoid robots, with over 1,000 Optimus units aiding in factory tasks. Founder Elon Musk envisions a future where these robots will outnumber humans, with a production goal of 10 billion units.
Tesla's Shanghai energy storage factory completed construction in just seven months and has begun trial production. Plans include an annual output of 10,000 Megapacks, totaling around 40 GWh in storage capacity. Tesla aims to deploy its V4 Superchargers across China, following successful launches in North America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, enhancing the charging experience for Tesla owners and supporting third-party vehicles.
