Qatar Energy has signed a significant long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with Shell (SHEL.L), targeting the Chinese market. Starting in January 2025, Qatar Energy will deliver 3 million tons of LNG annually to China, facilitated by Shell's extensive global trade network and logistics expertise. This marks the 11th long-term agreement between the two companies.

Qatar, the world's third-largest LNG exporter, has established numerous long-term LNG supply agreements globally. Notably, Qatar Energy has a longstanding partnership with India's Petronet LNG, recently renewing their agreement to supply 7.5 million tons of LNG annually starting in 2028 for 20 years.

China, as the world's largest LNG importer, imported 71.32 million tons in 2023, demonstrating its robust energy demand. This demand provides a significant market for Qatar Energy and Shell's collaboration. Qatar exported 73 million tons of LNG this year, underscoring its pivotal role in international energy trade.
