Tesla's CEO Elon Musk has promoted Omead Afshar as the head of its North American and European operations. This move comes amid a backdrop of declining stock prices and reduced demand for electric vehicles. Afshar, who joined Tesla in 2017 and has worked closely with Musk, has been elevated to manage manufacturing and sales, reporting directly to Musk. His team will include Troy Jones, VP of North American Sales and Service, and Jason Shawhan, Director of Manufacturing at Tesla’s Texas factory.

Currently, Vaibhav Taneja serves as Tesla's Chief Financial Officer, and Tom Zhu is the Senior VP of Automotive Operations. Some of Zhu's previous responsibilities have now been handed over to Afshar. Additionally, Afshar has past experience with Musk’s SpaceX and a stint at social media platform X, which was acquired by Musk in 2022.

Tesla has yet to respond to requests for comments regarding these changes. Following the news, Tesla’s stock (TSLA, Financial) slightly declined by 0.1%.
