United Parcel Service Inc (UPS) was incorporated in Delaware on July 15, 1999. It is a package delivery company less-than-truckload industry and provider of supply chain management solutions. The Company delivers packages each business day for approximately 1.6 million shipping customers to 8.2 million receivers in over 220 countries and territories. It serves the market for logistics services, which include transportation, distribution, forwarding, ground, ocean and air freight, brokerage and financing. The Company also provides control and visibility of customers' inventories and supply chains via its technology platform. It operates in three reportable segments; U.S. Domestic Package, International Package and Supply Chain & Freight. U.S. Domestic Package segment offers U.S. domestic ground and air package transportation services. It also offers UPS SurePost, a residential ground service for customers with non-urgent, light weight residential shipments. UPS SurePost is a contractual residential ground service that combines the consistency and reliability of the UPS Ground network with final delivery provided by the U.S. Postal Service. International Package segment includes the small package operations in Europe, Asia, Canada and Latin America, the Indian sub-continent, Middle East and Africa. It offers a wide selection of day and time-definite international shipping services. The Supply Chain & Freight segment consists of forwarding and logistics services, the Company's UPS Freight business, and its financial offerings through UPS Capital. The Company operates in two geographic segments, United States and International. Its competitors include postal services, various motor carriers, express companies, freight forwarders, and air couriers.
