The Company is a limited partner in Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P, (KMP), and manages and controls its business and affairs pursuant to a delegation of control agreement. KMP is one of the publicly traded pipeline limited partnerships, and is a pipeline transportation and energy storage company in North America. KMP owns an interest in or operates approximately 46,000 miles of pipelines and approximately 180 terminals. KMP's pipelines transport natural gas, refined petroleum products, crude oil, carbon dioxide and other products, and its terminals store petroleum products and chemicals and handle such products as ethanol, coal, petroleum coke and steel. KMP is also the provider of carbon dioxide for enhanced oil recovery projects in North America.
