AECOM Technology Corp was formed in 1980 as Ashland Technology Company, a Delaware corporation and a wholly owned subsidiary of Ashland, Inc., oil and gas refining and Distribution Company. The Company is a provider of professional technical and management support services for public and private clients around the world. It provides planning, consulting, architectural and engineering design, and program and construction management services for a range of projects, including highways, airports, bridges, mass transit systems, government and commercial buildings, water and wastewater facilities and power transmission and distribution. It also provides program and facilities management, training, logistics and other support services, mainly for agencies of the U.S. government. The Company offers its services through two business segments: Professional Technical Services (PTS) and Management Support Services (MSS). Its PTS segment delivers planning, consulting, architectural and engineering design, and program and construction management services to commercial and government clients worldwide in major end markets such as transportation, facilities, environmental, energy, water and government. Its MSS segment provides program and facilities management and maintenance, training, logistics, consulting, technical assistance and systems integration services, mainly for agencies of the U.S. government. Its clients consist of national, state, regional and local governments, public and private institutions and corporations. The Company is subject to various government laws and regulations, local government regulations and procurement policies and practices and varying currency, political and economic risks.
