Do you want a device to work with as well as to play around with? Here comes the SecuTABLET. Blackberry Limited’s (BBRY, Financial) latest spy-proof tablets for business consumers that is armed to provide more protection to your data. This device is said to offer security with usability by allowing users to access consumer applications without being threatened by malware attacks.

Three Musketeers

Blackberry, Samsung (SSNLF, Financial) and IBM (IBM, Financial) hold hands to design an ultra protective device for users. It employs Samsung 10.5 with IBM software for data protection and Secusmart micro SD card with a chip that blocks access to malwares which is from blackberry. IBM software helps in wrapping up of data into a virtual container that prevents it from attacks of malicious software by encrypting both voice and information in the secusmart chip. This will allow both consumer applications like Facebook (FB), youtube and so on, and at the same time protect the business information. This is where it scores over other crypto devices which do not allow certain applications to provide security.

Can the berry become fruitful?

According to Hans-Christoph Quelle, head of BlackBerry’s Secusmart unit, the secuTABLET will be made available to the public in the later part of this year. He further said more than 10,000 units will be ready for shipment by next year in Germany with a higher number sold by International Business Machines Corp. This device is being evaluated by Germany’s computer-security watchdog for considering its use for government communication and is expected to be approved by the end of the year.

Ph(F)ishing! Aware of Traps

Have you ever thought that someone was eavesdropping on your conversations? Or that someone is reading your mail? Or someone is looking into your browsing histories? These situations have been heard of very often. But we don’t know that it is as easy as watching a movie. We are actually prone to attack by any commoner who has little computer knowledge. Don’t you think so?

Gray McKinnon, wonder who he is? He is the guy who hacked 97 United States military and NASA computers over a 13-month period between February 2001 and March 2002, at his girlfriend's aunt's house in London. According to US authorities, he deleted critical files from operating systems, which shut down the United States Army’s Military District of Washington’s network of 2,000 computers for 24 hours. On top of that he posted “Your security is crap" in the military website. So, what do you think? Are your devices more secure than US military?

According to 2015 predictions of InfoSec institute, with cyber armies being created by many countries using highly skilled hackers, cyber warfare is going to be the trend. Attacks against private companies by criminal crews will continue to increase. And lots and lots of spying activities are going on. There are several other spying software that are available all over the Internet.

Government officials and corporate consumers now focus on the device which satisfies both their personal needs and protects private information. Blackberry thus strived hard to achieve this since last year. Blackberry uses the SecuTABLET to attract customers who demand more security of their private and business data and to regain its market that was diminished due to unpleasant popularity of its previous debut Blackberry playbook.

Right People with Right Skills

Blackberry lost 12% of its shares when Apple (AAPL, Financial) and IBM signed contract which ensures data security to Apple users. Thus at present blackberry integrates its technology with one of its competitors to get back on track.

SecuSmart had been acquired by blackberry last year in a bid to win business that provides Information security. The Waterloo, Ontario-based company, that sold few of its possessions 2011 Playbook tablets, is aiming to concentrate on developing security components and software instead of hardware building.

Conclusion

Undoubtedly, the need for protection against malwares and hackers is the biggest challenge ever, and the SecuTABLET, a team effort of Blackberry, Samsung, and IBM is a boon to corporate consumers and government officials. Blackberry believes that this is a good step to increase its market capital. Will this Superman Tablet win against virtual James Bonds? Let’s wait and watch!
