In the first quarter of 2013, Guru Mason Hawkins, chairman and CEO of Southeastern Asset Management, reduced his position with eight companies, three of them in the building materials sector. Here’s a review of his reductions as of March 31, 2013:



Reduced: Vulcan Materials Company (VMC, Financial) – Building Materials



Mason Hawkins reduced his Vulcan Materials position by 28.21% in the first quarter of 2013, selling 2,541,753 shares at an average price of $54.27, for a 0.4% gain. The fourth quarter of 2011 made the highest gain for Hawkins at 66.4%. This trade impacts his portfolio by -0.59%. Hawkins holds remaining shares of approximately 6.46 million after the trade or 4.98% of shares outstanding.

Reduced: Cemex, S.A.B. de C.V (CX, Financial) – Building Materials
