Bearish John Hussman Sold Heavily in the First Quarter; New Portfolio Update

Being extremely bearish, John Hussman sold heavily in the first quarter, and bought only four new stocks and sold 36. Hussman has repeated saying that the market is overvalued, overbought, and “within the most negative 1% of historical return/risk profiles.” He is almost 100% hedged with his fund.

Hussman was also extremely bearish in 2007, and he was right. He avoided large losses in the crash of 2008. But he also missed the gains of 2009 and 2010. He has consistently criticized the policies of the central banks, saying that they only protected bond holders. For the latest portfolio, he invests heavily in healthcare and consumer services.
