The Susquehanna International Group was founded in 1987 by Jeff Yass, Arthur Dantchik, Steve Bloom, Eric Brooks, Andrew Frost and Joel Greenberg. The original founders remain the principal owners with some being actively involved in various areas of the business, with Yass and Dantchik being involved in the firm’s trading strategies and Frost supervising private equity investments. Susquehanna International is involved in global investment, trading and technology worldwide, most known for its expertise in derivatives pricing and trading in equity options. Susquehanna is comprised of a group of affiliated entities that each specialize in trading and proprietary investments that range from equities to index and derivative products to institutional sales. The company offers research, order execution, and trading flow services for its clients, with branch locations in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Dublin, Sydney, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong, among others, that employ over 1500 people. Susquehanna operates as a broker that acts as a market maker for over 5,000 securities, offering over 600 equity options and 45 index options. Susquehanna Financial Group, a subsidiary of Susquehanna International, acts as the institutional broker-dealer of the company. It focuses on an approach that “combines bulge bracket resources with a boutique culture where research, sales, and trading.” Susquehanna has an equity research team, which “combines analysts’ industry expertise with quantitative financial modeling, field-based research, and industry channel experience” that covers the financial, consumer, healthcare, energy, and technology sectors. The company’s global private equity is managed through two subsidiaries: the Susquehanna Growth Equity and SIG Asia Investments. Susquehanna Growth Equity invests in growth capital and buyouts in the financial, technology, information, and internet sectors. SIG Asia Investments focuses on companies operating in China, with a foreign owned enterprise in Shanghai. Joel Greenberg, one of the original founders, acts as the Managing Director for Susquehanna International Group.
