HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC Profile

Honeywell International Inc. is a multinational conglomerate company that provides a variety of services and products related to engineering and aerospace. The company is based out of Morristown, New Jersey and can trace its history back to the founding of Honeywell Heating Specialty Co., Inc. in 1906. The original company would merge with Minneapolis Heat Regulator Company in 1927 to create Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Company with W.R. Sweatt as its first Chairman. The merged company would then grow into a global technology leader lead by W.R. Sweatt’s son Harold. Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Company would then be shortened to simply Honeywell with the new successor James H. Binger becoming president and chairman in the 1960s. The company would buy out Datamatic Corp. as its first entrance into the computer business and would then offer a vast number of products throughout the years, including the Honeywell 200 business computer to complete with IBM’s 1401. The company would then have interests in the defense industry with WWII with its defense division spinning off into Alliant Techsystems. The current Honeywell International Inc. was created out of a merger between AlliedSignal and Honeywell Inc. in 1999. The combined company would choose Honeywell due to the superior brand recognition and relocate Honeywell’s headquarters in Minneapolis to its current location in Morristown. Honeywell International Inc. is currently a Fortune 100 company that focuses on creating solutions to improve the quality of life on a global scale, especially in generating clean energy. The company has over 127,000 employees on a global scale with over 22,000 engineers and scientists. Honeywell International Inc. invests most heavily in the information technology, which makes up over a sixth of its total asset allocations, and also invests in the finance, health care, consumer discretionary, consumer staples, energy, industrials, utilities and telecommunications, and real estate sectors, among others to a lesser degree, in order of decreasing allocation.
