Kalmar Investments Inc. is an investment management company based out of Wilmington, Delaware. The company was established in 1982 by founder Ford B. Draper, who continues to have an active role in the company today acting as its Chairman and CIO, and others. Kalmar Investments utilizes top down and bottom up methodologies with a fundamental analysis to make its investment decisions, allocating its assets in the public equity markets of the U.S. The company conducts its research internally, investing in the growth and value stocks of small and mid-cap companies. Kalmar Investments currently operates with 24 employees of which 10 are investment professionals. The company invests most heavily in the industrials sector, which alone makes up over a quarter of its total asset allocations, and also invests in the information technology, consumer discretionary, health care, and energy sectors, among a variety of others to a lesser degree, in order of decreasing allocation. Other than its top holdings in Alliance Data Systems and West Pharmaceutical Services Inc., none of its holdings make up over 2% of its total. Kalmar Investments currently holds just over $1 billion in total assets under management spread across over 200 accounts, all of which are discretionary. Although the firm’s total number of accounts has been decreasing in recent years from close to 300 to its current amount today, its total assets under management has been increasing despite some volatility, growing from $760 million back in 2010 to its current amount today. Kalmar Investments mainly caters to high net worth individuals, which alone makes up over a third of its client base, and also provides services to pension and profit sharing plans, charities, corporations, and state or municipal government entities, in order of decreasing clientele. The company currently offers its “Growth-with-Value” Small Cap Fund to its clients.
